Cultural Thursday Event: India



Central Lakes College employee Sarah Gorham will present at the April 4 Cultural Thursday event. The program begins at noon in the Chalberg Theatre on the Brainerd campus.  The free, public event will feature photos from India and the Kumbha Mela gathering that occurred there in February 2013. 

The Kumbha Mela is an enormous gathering of people that takes place every 12 years on the banks of the Ganges river.  Ms. Gorham attended the Kumbha Mela and toured several places in rural northern India with the non-profit Himalayan Institute. Her presentation will explain the cultural and religious significance of the Mela, which is the largest gathering of people in the world.

CLC Boosts Regional Economy


Study Shows Central Lakes College Contributes $95 Million, 1,252 Jobs to Regional Economy

Brainerd/Staples, MN – Central Lakes College today released the results of a study that estimates the economic impact of Central Lakes College on the regional economy to be $95 million and 1,252 jobs.

“In addition to focusing on the success of our students, CLC plays a vital role in supporting our state and regional economy,” said Central Lakes College president Larry Lundblad. “Our operations and the economic activity generated by our faculty, staff, and students touch virtually every corner of our regional economy and support local business and industry.”

College Fair at Camp Ripley



Central Lakes College will hold a College Fair on Friday, April 5 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Hanger Conference Center at Camp Ripley, MN.


The College Fair will feature informational booths with college programs, scholarship and grant information, financial aid, and details on admission requirements. VA education representatives and militatry recruiting staff will also be available at the event.

The college fair is open to the public. Area residents of all ages interested in higher education are encouraged to attend.

2013 Bridges Career Exploration Day


The Bridges annual Career Exploration Day was held on Friday, March 8 at Central Lakes College. The event showcased more than 150 regional high-demand careers with hands-on demonstrations, simulators and breakout sessions.

Central Lakes College Marketing and Public Relations Office Receives National Awards



Winners have been announced in the Twenty-Eighth Annual Education Advertising Awards, sponsored by the Higher Education Marketing Report. The Education Advertising Awards is the largest educational advertising awards competition in the country. This year, nearly 3,000 entries were received from more than one-thousand colleges, universities and secondary schools from all fifty states and several foreign countries.
