Football team escapes

Dominique Corder threw two touchdown passes during the first half as Central Lakes College annexed a 22-14 Minnesota College Athletic Conference football win over Minnesota State Community and Technical College Sat., Oct. 2 in a Homecoming game at Findorff Field on the CLC campus. It was the sixth straight winfor the nation's 14th ranked Raiders (as of Oct. 4). After breaking free from the grasp of a Spartans' linebacker 10 yards behind the line of scrimmage, Corder connected with Barret Powell, who went 45 yards for the first CLC score. On 73-yard drive, Corder converted six of seven passes. Tyler Erickson later scored on a 25-yard reception. In the second half the Raiders had 10 penalties for 95 yards and turned the ball over four times. They gained just 62 yards. A two-play, 17-yard drive accounted for CLC's second-half points. Greg Wright (left) and the Raiders' defense stopped the Spartans on fourth and goal from the Raiders' eight to clinch the win with :26 left.
