CLC's Verse Like Water Program Earns Minnesota State Arts Board Grant

Verse Like Water: the visiting poet program of Central Lakes College, in collaboration with Crossing Arts Alliance, has been granted $65,422 to fund first class literary arts events across 2014.

The American poets Billy Collins, Sherman Alexie, Tracy K. Smith, and Robert Hass will present a series of afternoon readings and workshops in the CLC Chalberg Theater, and all events are free and open to the public.

Earlier in November, the State Arts Board granted 41 entities over 2.2 million dollars to "stimulate and encourage the creation, performance, and appreciation of the arts in the state." These funds were dreamed into being in 2008, when the legislature passed the Clean Water Land and Legacy Amendment, which decreed that for 25 years a percentage of the state sales tax would be reserved and bestowed via grants to institutions and groups committed to enriching the cultural lives of all Minnesotans.
