District court judge is guest

Judge Thaddeus V. "Tad" Jude of Minnesota's 10th District Court was on the Brainerd campus recently to make presentations and take questions. He spoke with students in three political science classes taught by Steve Wenzel, a former legislator with Jude. Judge Jude serves the counties of Anoka, Chisago, Isanti, Kanabec, Pine, Sherburne, Washington, and Wright. Forty-five judges serve the district, which is the second largest of Minnesota's 10 judicial districts. Jude is a 1977 graduate of the William Mitchell College of Law.  He was elected to represent the citizens of the Minnesota 10th Judicial District’s Seat 3 as a Judge in 2010, and was sworn in on January 3, 2011. In November of 1972, Jude became the youngest person elected to the Minnesota State Legislature, turning the constitutionally required age of 21 in December, just prior to being sworn in the following January.  As a member of the legislature he served from 1973 to 1983 in the House of Representatives; and from 1983 to 1989 in the Senate.
