Dr. Andrew T. Hook, PhD, an international economist, will teach one
economics course at Central Lakes College starting with the fall term Aug. 27. Dr. Hook is scheduled to
teach a three-credit, topics in economics course titled “Globalization”
Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 10 to 10:50 a.m. in C237 on the Brainerd
campus. An expert on the economies
of the world, Dr. Hook has 30
years of experience in banking, finance and economic development in Africa,
Asia, South and Central Americas, North America, the Caribbean and Europe.
He has worked for the World Bank, International Monetary Fund and the
Federal Reserve Bank of New York, providing support for financial sector
infrastructure projects, technical assistance in payment systems and preparing
numerous reports on international banking and financial and economic policy.
Dr. Hook holds a master’s degree in
economics from New York University, a Master of Business Administration degree
in finance and accounting from Columbia University, and doctoral degrees from
Cornell University (French literature) and New York University (economics).
In Afghanistan he worked closely with the Governor of the Central Bank
during the country’s implementation of a currency conversion.
This won’t be his first visit to Central Lakes
College. In 2008 he was a presenter at a forum for the Gordon Rosenmeier Center
for State and Local Government at CLC.
