The Office of Diversity and Equity, Student Life, and the Center for Life Long Learning at Central Lakes College have announced three Brainerd campus events for the public: Monday, Oct. 22 -- Mixed Blood Theater Performance: "Theory of Mind," (shown) Chalberg Theatre, 11 a.m.; Thursday, Oct. 25 -- Commissioner Kevin Lindsey, Minnesota Department of Human
Rights, Chalberg Theater, 10 a.m. and 11 a.m.; Thursday, Nov. 1 -- The Honorable Chief Executive of the Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe, Melanie Benjamin, Chalberg Theater, noon.
Monday, October 22nd at 11:00 in the Chalberg
Theater:
Mixed Blood Theater Performance: Theory of Mind centers on
Bill, a college-bound 17 year-old with Asperger's Syndrome. He is equipped with
scholastic brilliance but low emotional intelligence, keen self-awareness yet an
inability to read social cues, and a charming directness yet prone to taking
everything literally. His outing with a young woman becomes a memorable,
insightful look at the tugs, shifts, and about-faces found on the autism
spectrum.
Written by the same playwright as Mixed Blood's On the
Spectrum and Vestibular Sense, Theory of Mind is not a primer
on autism, a catalogue of family turmoil or a list of treatment options. It is
simply a sensitive yet unsentimental portrait of a young adult on the autism
spectrum.
Thursday, October 25th, 10:00 and 11:00,
in the Chalberg Theater:
Commissioner Kevin Lindsey, Minnesota Department of Human
Rights
10:00 Hot Topics Facing Minnesota's Human Rights:
Commissioner Lindsey will discuss economics as a human rights issue, voting as a
human rights issue, and Amending the State Constitution...Voter ID Amendment and
the Marriage Amendment as human rights issues.
11:00 Community Forum and Dialogue on above topics
Thursday, November 1st at 12:00 in the Chalberg
Theater:
The Honorable Chief Executive of the Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe,
Melanie Benjamin
(Co-sponsored by Cultural Thursdays)
Tribal Law and Order Act: The Tribal Law and Order

decreasing violence against American Indian and Alaskan Native women. Chief

community.
