“A Choral Tapestry,” a free Central Lakes College Spring Choir Concert,
will be held at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, May 3 in Chalberg Theater on the Brainerd
campus. Director Michelle Sakry-Winkelman, who is retiring after 22 years, said the event will include music
performed by the Chamber Singers, Cantare’ Concert Choir, and Men’s Ensemble. The
singers will perform a variety of musical works by Vivaldi, Luboff, Dickau,
Scarlatti, Westler, and Rossetti. A choral medley of 10 songs from the musical “Les Miserables” will be
performed by the combined choirs accompanied by Jim Olsen, guest guitarist.
Scheduled soloists are choir students Shayna McGerr, Brainerd, and
Johanna Downing, Baxter, performing a duet; Peter Lucken. Melrose, performing a
baritone solo; and Chad Frink and Ryan O’Rourke of Brainerd, Christopher Olson
of Nisswa, and Terah Pontius of Baxter.
Other choir members are Jenny Hanes and Marissa Jasmer, Aldrich; Elias
Peterson, Aitkin; Felicia Manns, Baxter; Neela Jarrott, Melissa Pikula, Lynnette
Bauer, Aleda Pikkaraine, Scott Hubert, and Lucas Norr, Brainerd; Jillian Rinde,
Ironton; Amanda Boone, Little Falls; Katie Campbell, Motley; LeeAnn Roepke,
Nisswa; Kailee Gudahl, Pequot Lakes; and Tanya Ryappy, Pine River. Choir
manager is Justin Kostecka, Pequot Lakes.
The choirs are accompanied by pianist Sarah Gorham. A reception follows the concert.
