Anderson
Brothers Construction Company of Brainerd has informed the City of Brainerd
that construction on the College Drive Improvement will resume on Monday, April 9. The
favorable weather conditions over the winter have set the stage for work to
begin earlier than originally anticipated. The project location extends from west of
County Road 48 in Baxter, along County Road 48 north and south of College
Road/College Drive and then easterly through the intersection of Quince and Fifth.
Work did continue on the public and private utility relocations over the winter
and into the spring.
Work commencing on Monday, April 9
will begin with the construction at County Road 48 and College Drive, along
with College Road in Baxter. This work will require that the existing traffic
signal shut down and the installation of
a four way stop condition until fall to facilitate construction staging. Grading
to accommodate the widening and retaining wall construction by the Central
Lakes College and High School will also begin at this time.
Motorists and roadway users are advised to
use alternate routes for access to this area starting on Monday and the
summer months to follow. Significant delays are anticipated as motorists
approach the project from the South on County Road 48 and from the west on
College Road in the City of Baxter. The current plan is to maintain access with
one lane in each direction during the start of the project, however motorists
will experience delays in the construction area, especially during the morning
and evening rush hours. College Drive will be limited to one lane in each
direction, however the use of left turns will also be limited.
Vehicles and pedestrians traveling in the College
Drive Improvement area are asked to slow down and drive or use the roadway with
caution. The City of Brainerd and Anderson Brothers Construction Company want
to thank the public for their patience during this construction process.
