Central Lakes College President Dr. Larry Lundblad and members of the CLC community hosted a pizza lunch of the International Club and its student members Thurs., Sept. 30 on the Brainerd campus. In attendance were CLC students representing nine countries, including Bulgaria, Uganda, Germany, Russia, South Africa, Brazil, Guatemala, El Salvador, and Indonesia plus several students not originally from the lakes area. Staff from CLC who have international travel experience welcomed the students and proposed assistance in various forms, such as a winter clothing drive for those who will have their first experience with the cold winter and its notoriety for driving vehicles on frozen lakes and fishing through holes in the ice. Watch for more details on the warm clothing effort. Ron Oden, president of the Brainerd campus student senate, said student leadership will be involved.
