Mark Ritchie, Minnesota Secretary of State, visited with students in a stop at the Central Lakes College campus in Brainerd Sept. 22. At the Veterans Resource Center and in a meeing of the Student Senate Ritchie gave a message about the importance of voting, with tips for those who want to cast their ballot away from home and ahead of the Nov. 2 general election through absentee voting. He distributed buttons that say "Vote in honor of a veteran." He said the blank space on each button is where individuals may print the name of a beloved veteran in whose honor they are casting their ballot. "We owe it to the veterans who have fought for our right to vote to recognize what they have done to ensure that right, that duty to vote," Ritchie said.
