$8,000 for CLC students

The Brainerd Lakes Chapter of Muskies Inc. has presented a check for $8,000 to the Central Lakes College Foundation for scholarships to students in the CLC Natural Resources and Natural Resources Law Enforcement programs in Brainerd. The Hugh C. Becker Scholarship Foundation, which provides financial support to states with muskie management programs, provided half of the Muskies Inc. donation. CLC instructors Gary Carson and Kent Montgomery accepted the donation March 12 at the annual chapter banquet. On hand to formally thank the chapter at CLC during the Earth Day Fair April 20 were Carson, CLC instructor Bill Faber, Jean Beckmann of the CLC Foundation, and Jeff Wig, dean of career and technical programs and Staples campus. Greg Kvale and Donny Hines came to the Brainerd campus to complete the transaction, which will enable the CLC Foundation to oversee the endowed scholarship fund and provide annual scholarships to students in Natural Resources or Natural Resources Law Enforcement.
