Ayala signs with DII team

Marcus Ayala, a 6-foot guard from Phoenix, Ariz., who led the Central Lakes College men's basketball team as a two-time first team All-Conference pick, has signed a national letter of intent to play for Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colo. Marcus led the Raiders to a 26-3 record in the Minnesota College Athletic Conference. During his two seasons, he scored 827 points, dished out 246 assists and notched 171 steals. Last season, Marcus averaged 16 points, five assists and three steals per game. He also led CLC to a school record 22-game winning streak to start the season. During his two-year career, the Raiders were 48-8 overall. Marcus said he believes Fort Lewis is a good fit for him for not only basketball but its Business program, and he is excited to be moving closer to home. The Skyhawks have been to the NCAA Division II tournament seven of the last 10 years. Congratulations and best wishes for continued success to this outstanding young man and CLC alum.
