Fulda High School athlete Brittany Hulstein will play volleyball and basketball for the Brainerd-based Central Lakes College Raiders of the Minnesota College Athletic Conference. The 5-10 standout, who graduates this spring after an illustrious high school career, will be welcomed by Coaches Jane Peterson in volleyball and Dennis Eastman in women’s basketball. Central Lakes College is a Division III member of the National Junior College Athletic Association. Hulstein was the Fulda Raiders’ Most Valuable Player in volleyball and also an All-Red Rock Conference pick. She was also named to the All-Area Team. In basketball, Hulstein earned first team All-Conference as a freshman, sophomore, and senior and was named to the All-Area third team last season. She was an Academic All-State honoree by the Coaches’ Association. “We are excited about having an athlete of her caliber here,” said Coach Peterson, a three-time NJCAA Division III volleyball coach of the year in 2000, 2001, and 2007 when CLC captured national championships. Coach Eastman, who took the Raiders to the college’s only national basketball championship in 1996, said he is equally pleased that Hulstein joins a corps of quality recruits headed into his program.
